Wednesday evening saw the centre full of students, teachers, parents and members of the Learning and Achievement Service for our Grand Reopening after the extension work.
Visitors watched students from Mundella and Seven Hills School create some excellent animations in the Media Hub – in fact we struggled to get the pupils to leave at the end of the evening they were enjoying themselves so much. The Creative Space hosted the Killer Instincts, a band from Meadowhead School who are creating their own music video using our Green Screen technology.
The foyer displayed our collection of mobile learning hardware – including PDAs, Ultra-Mobile PCs and Nintendo DSs – all currently being employed in projects around our partnership schools and at the museum in Weston Park. A selection of software and the latest voting systems for the interactive whiteboard were shown off in the Learning Lab, whilst The Cube, of course, hosted Cube magazine in paper and electronic form.
Alan Marshall, Director of Local Delivery at Sheffield City Council, was very impressed with the evening and said he appreciated “all the hard work everyone has put in to make the CLC a place of learning for the future using ICT”.
